Family Ambassador Story
Jaxxon was diagnosed with a complex heart condition, including a ventricular septal defect, Tetralogy of Fallot, and a leaky pulmonary artery, at 19 weeks gestation. His first open-heart surgery took place at just 3 months old and, despite being expected to last 4 hours, it extended to 26 hours due to the severity of his condition. Jaxxon spent over 100 days in the ICU at Westmead Children's Hospital, fighting off infections and slowly recovering. After his release in June 2022, his parents were hopeful as they planned their wedding and celebrated their little boy’s first moments at home.
Tragically, just days after a joyful bridal shower where Jaxxon met family and friends for the first time, he took a turn for the worse. On June 20, 2022, Jaxxon passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Throughout their journey, HeartKids provided crucial support, including financial assistance and emotional care, and continues to help the family navigate their grief. In honour of their son, Jaxxon’s family will join the Two Feet & A Heartbeat Walk in NSW on October 13th.
